Hoptree (Ptelea trifoliata)
When I stopped to photograph Hoptree bushes in August 2020, they were hurting from a lack of water. In June 2021 they were doing better. In dry arroyo beds they reach about head height, but with more water (in the Sandias, for example) they can reach 3 meters. Look for the triple leaves and samaras (winged seeds). The flowers may prove elusive; they're light green and have four (or sometimes five) petals.
